July 30, 2016: Marcotte: Republicans See a Dystopian Hellscape; Digby: Dems Embrace America

July 31, 2016 @ 11:46 am

This week, Joshua Holland kicks off the show with a look at what the #DNCLeaks do and don't tell us about the relationship between senior party officials and the Sanders campaign.

Then we'll be joined by two Salon columnists to take a look back at the two major parties' political conventions. They offered dramatically different presentations of the world around us.

First, we'll speak to Amanda Marcotte about what it was like in the belly of the beast -- at the GOP convention in Cleveland. Amanda also caught some of the fireworks in Philadelphia.

Then we'll talk about the Democrats' remarkably inclusive convention in Philadelphia, which culminated in the first woman being nominated to top a major party ticket.

July 13, 2016 @ 1:10 pm

Crooks and Liars managing editor Karoli Kuns was a self-proclaimed "Clinton hater." She waded through thousands of Hillary Clinton's emails digging for dirt, but she came away from the exercise with a very different view of the Democratic nominee.

In this clip, Kuns speaks with Politics and Reality Radio host Joshua Holland about what she gleaned from a deep dive into the emails that have stirred so much controversy.

July 9, 2016: More Police Bloodshed; Wingnuts Attack Comey; Roger Ailes Is Gross

July 10, 2016 @ 10:14 am

This week, we start with a commentary about the mass shooting of police officers at a peaceful Black Lives Matter protest in Dallas.

Then we're joined by Robert Gangi, executive director of the Police Reform Organizing Project (PROP), to discuss the two unjustified police shootings of black men that apparently pushed the Dallas shooter over the edge.

We also talk to Karoli Kuns, managing editor of Crooks and Liars, about FBI Director James Comey's recommendation that Hillary Clinton not face charges for Emailghazi, and the backlash it set off on the right.

Finally, we welcome Cristina Lopez, a researcher and reporter at Media Matters, to talk about the lawsuit filed by Gretchen Carlson this week alleging that Fox News boss Roger Ailes sexually harrassed her in the grossest possible way.
